Jamaal Brown, a 5-10 point guard who transferred from Utah Valley to play his sophomore season at Dixie (UT), has given a verbal commitment to Oklahoma State. Shortly after the announcement, Brown left Dixie to return to Chicago (IL), where he enrolled at Olive-Harvey.
He is not expected to play at Olive-Harvey this season so that he will have three years of NCAA D-1 eligibility.
As a freshman at Utah Valley in 2002-03, Brown was named to the NJCAA All-Region XVIII second team. He averaged 15.1 points and 4.5 assists while connecting on 43% from the field, 32% from the arc and 65% from the foul line.
Brown, who prepped at Chicago (IL) Westinghouse HS, originally signed with North Carolina-Greensboro before joining the JUCO ranks.
