Daniel Artest, a 6-5 power forward from Queens (NY), has transferred to Westchester (NY) CC for his sophomore year. He is the younger brother of Ron Artest of the Indiana Pacers.
Artest began his collegiate career last winter at Southern Nevada, becoming eligible after the semester break. In 12 games, he averaged 15.0 points and 8.3 rebounds, connecting on 55% from the floor, 47% of his 15 three-pointers, and 66% from the foul line. When Southern Nevada dropped its basketball program after just one season, Artest initially signed to play at Southern Idaho before deciding to move closer to home.
Artest did not play high school ball while briefly attending La Salle Academy, Long Island City HS, Edison HS and Deerfield (IL) HS.
