Suffolk-Selden is the site for this weekend's NJCAA Region XV Division III tournament. Eight teams are competing for the region title, with the winner advancing to the Division III Nationals in Delhi (NY) on March 13-15.

Host and top-seeded Suffolk-Selden completed the regular season with a 26-3 record and a #3 ranking in the final national Division III regular-season poll. The Clippers are led by All-Region First Team selection Dyshaun Flournoy, a 6-0 soph guard from Brentwood (NY) HS, who averaged 16.1 points. Three other Clippers averaged double-digits in scoring: Clarence Alonzo, a 5-11 guard (14.4 points), Brice Giles, a 6-6 forward (11.7 points and 8.2 rebounds) and Alex DeKenipp, a 6-1 guard (10.1 points).

Defending D-III national champion Sullivan is seeded third this weekend, with only one returnee from last year's 32-0 unbeaten squad. The lone soph is Bertram McDowell, the Region Player of the Year who recently passed the 1000-point career mark and is fourth nationally with 23.8 ppg. The 6-3 guard from Cornwall (NY) HS had a 37-point explosion, including 10 three-pointers, in a 94-90 overtime loss to T.C.I., a D-I program, on 2/7.

Other members of the Region XV First Team who will be in action this weekend are Dominique Jones of second-seeded Fashion Institute, Silvio Marfe of CUNY Champion Hostos, and John Dabney of Nassau.
